Concert July 2011

Leipzig Gewandhaus

The Gewandhausorchestra grooved easily and flirted with latin american eroticism in a virtuoso manner. Clearly it was not only the audience in the auditorium but also each single musician in the orchestra who rejoiced in this concert. Ausgabe der Leipziger Volkszeitung

Candide

Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin

It is no wonder a decidedly European sound-cloak wrapped around the State Orchestra under the direction of British conductor Wayne Marshall's "Candide." The precisely balanced orchestral sound was a game of musically exuberant activity. Berliner Zeitung, June 2011

Gershwin and Bernstein Improvised

Wayne Marshall is famous throughout the world both for his improvisations and for his interpretations of the composition of Gershwin and Bernstein. Here he brings these two talents together, producing spellbinding improvisations on much-loved themes from the work of these master composers. Rhapsody in Blue by Gerswhin, and West Side Story, Candide and Wonderful Town are all given a new lease of life as symphonic improvisations for the organ. Also included is an improvisation on the song Funny People by Jule Styne.
