Rodion Pogossov
Introduction
Rodion Pogossov is widely becoming known for his stage acting and energetic character portrayal.He features regularly in the MET Opera line-up in New York, and recent engagements have included Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Malatesta in Don Pasquale, and Papageno in Die Zauberflöte.
Other recent engagements include Papageno at the Bilbao Opera conducted by Spinosa, Eugene Onegin at the Festival de Lanaudiere conducted by Kent Nagano, Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Hamburgische Staatsoper and the Canadian Opera Company, Elisir d'amore at the Glyndebourne Festival and Cosi' fan tutte at the Ravinia Festival. He also recently sang in a Gala concert at the Royal Opera House conducted by Antonio Pappano.
Recent concert performances include Rachmaninov's Spring Cantata and The Bells with NPS VARA Radio in the Netherlands, and Orff's Carmina Burana with the Orquesta y Coro Nacionales España in Madrid and RLPO; a work he will also return to the UK to sing this season with the LPO.
Further engagements also include Figaro/Barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Municipal in Santiago, Bayerische Staatsoper, and at the MET, Cosi' fan tutte at the MET, his debut in the title role in Don Giovanni at the Oviedo Opera and also his LA Opera debut as Papageno.
His solo recital disc for the prestigious EMI Debut Series received great acclaim, which will shortly be followed by a disc of Rachmaninov songs with pianist Iain Burnside which is currently in production.
