Bellini

La Sonnambula

Bolshoi Theatre

(Translated from Russian)
'As soon as Nikolai Didenko sang Vi ravviso his soul rejoiced. I have heard from the lips of a beautiful Russian bass focused sound without large-scale alien here rollicking, noble cantilena - all that is needed specifically for the Italian opera. Spent the whole game Didenko stylish, never squeezing, including the sophisticated in terms of the dramatic duo with Amin somnambulist.' Eugene Tsodokov, Opera News, 17 March 2013

...The best voice of the evening belonged to the Don Basilio of debut basso Nikolai Didenko, who stole the show with his seemingly effortless, subterranean voice and highly developed sense of character, portraying the music teacher as the slimy creature that the composer intended but hardly ever receives..
