The Czech Mezzo-Soprano is one of the brightest stars in classical music. She is an exclusive artist with Deutsche Grammophon, and her first solo recital disc of Dvorak, Janacek and Martinu won the Gramophone Solo Vocal Award, 2001. Recent releases include a Mozart album with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Sir Simon Rattle, a Handel and a Vivaldi disc with the Venice Baroque and Andrea Marcon as well as a solo recital disc "Songs my mother taught me" with Malcolm Martineau. She was the 2004 Gramophone Awards Artist of the Year.
Magdalena Kožená is well established as a major concert and recital artist and appears worldwide with the leading orchestras and conductors, while her recital partners include Daniel Barenboim, Yefim Bronfman, Mitsuko Uchida, Andras Schiff and Malcolm Martineau.
She will tour Europe with the ensemble Private Musicke to promote the release of her latest album "Lettere Amorose". She will also appear with the Berliner and Wiener Philharmoniker and the Staatskapelle Dresden. In opera she sings Octavian in Amsterdam and Melisande in New York.
In 2003 she was awarded the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government.
