Angela Denoke

Introduction

Angela Denoke was voted Singer of the Year by Opernwelt in 1999 and in 2007 she received the Deutsche Theaterpreis Der Faust for her portrayal of Salome. In February 2009 the Austrian Government awarded the title of Kammersängerin of the Wiener Staatsoper. She appears with the major conductors, opera houses and orchestras and in recital at the leading concert halls and festivals.

Her recordings include The Makropulos Case, Die tote Stadt, Die Walküre, Kátya Kabanová, Cardillac, Beethoven 9 (with Mikhail Pletnev for DG and Daniel Barenboim for Warner), Wozzeck (with Ingo Metzmacher for EMI) and Fidelio (with Sir Simon Rattle for EMI).

Her future engagements include appearances with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra. She returns to London (Parsifal), Munich (Wozzeck and Parsifal) and Vienna (Parsifal and Der Rosenkavalier).

Two Lives to Live

Following the successful tour of "Von Babelsberg bis Beverly Hills", Angela Denoke has premiered for the 2011 Salzburg Festival a new recital programme based on the Kurt Weill's output in Germany and then the USA:  Two Lives to live.  Tal Balshai has made musical arrangements for the evening and Norbert Nagel plays several instruments.  It is an extremely sophisticated programme with extracts of letters and anecdotes by Weill and Lotte Lenya read in between by Angela - or a local personality.  Next season this programme will tour to Lille (with a French speaker to read the letters) and also to the Wiener Staatsoper.
