Anna Prohaska studied at the "Hanns Eisler" Hochschule für Musik with Norma Sharp, Brenda Mitchell and Wolfram Rieger.
She is a member of the ensemble of the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin where her roles have included Susanna, Anne Trulove, Blonde, Poppea (Handel’s Agrippina), Despina, Zerlina, Oscar and Tebaldo with conductors including Daniel Barenboim, Philippe Jordan, Ingo Metzmacher and Rene Jacobs. Engagements at the Salzburg festivals include Zerlina, Despina, Nono's Al gran sole carico d'amore” and “Rusalka” with the Cleveland Orchestra and Franz Welser-Möst. She has sung Zerlina at both la Scala and with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra (with Gustavo Dudamel)
She appears with the Berliner Philharmoniker with Sir Simon Rattle and Claudio Abbado, the Bayerische Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchester with Daniel Harding, Mariss Jansons, Pierre Boulez and Bernard Labadie, and the Wiener Philharmoniker with Pierre Boulez and Sir Simon Rattle. Her recitals with Eric Schneider include Schwarzenberg, Vienna, Berlin, Frankfurt and London.
This season she sings Sophie (Der Rosekavalier) and Isolde (Le von herbe) for the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, Marzelline (Fidelio) at the Theater an der Wien and Babel for the Bayerische Staatsoper. In concert she appears with Alan Gilbert, Jonathan Cohen, Charles Dutoit and Gustavo Dudamel.
Recordings include Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with Bernarda Fink for Harmonia Mundi, Lieder by Zimmermann for Wergo, a DVD release for Accentus Music of Berg’s Lulu Suite with the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela and Claudio Abbado and her first solo album "Sirene" for Deutsche Grammophon.
