Adam Plachetka
Askonas Holt is delighted to announce the world management of bass baritone Adam Plachetka.
Mr Plachetka was born in Prague, Czech Republic in May 1985 and studied voice at the Prague Conservatory where he graduated in 2006.
During his studies, he won first prize in the Dusek Mozart Competition in Prague, the Sacred Music Competition in Kromeriz, Conservatories Competition of the Czech Republic in Pardubice, The Prague Singer Competition and the Anton Dvorak Competition in Karlovy Vary where he also received prizes for interpretation.
In 2005, Adam Plachetka made his debut at the National Theatre in Prague in Tom Johnson’s Four Note Opera. With the National Theatre he has also appeared as Micha in Prodana Nevesta, Masetto in Don Giovanni, Publio in La clemenza di Tito, Jake Wallace and Larkens in La fanciulla del west, Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro. He has also appeared with the State Opera of Prague as Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Papageno in Die Zauberflote.
Highlights of his other engagements include roles in Benvenuto Cellini, Le nozze di Figaro and Rusalka at the Salzburg Festival, Rinaldo and Turandot with the Korean Opera Group and Acis and Galatea and Don Giovanni at the Smetanova Litomyšl, Svatováclavský Festival and Znojemský Hudební Festival.
On the concert platform, Mr Plachetka has appeared with the Czech Philharmonic, Filharmonie Bohuslava Martinu, Plzenska Filharmonie, Prazska Komorni Filharmonie and Statni Filharmonie Brno. He has also appeared with baroque orchestras such as the Camerata Antique Seoul, Collegium Marianum, Ensemble Baroque and Solamente Naturali.
Conductors with whom he has performed include Christoph Bohm, Alessandro De Marchi, Enrico Dovico, John Fiore, Ascher Fisch, Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Ghiaurov, Caspar Richter, Robin Ticciati, Gulliaume Tourniaire, Franz Welser-Most and Marco Zambelli. He has appeared in productions by distinguished directors such as Klaus Gut, Ursel and Karl-Ernst Hermann, Pier Luigi Pizzi and Philipp Stolzl.
Future engagements include title role in Don Giovanni, Nardo in La finta giardinera, Argante in Rinaldo with the National Theatre Prague, Sylvano in La Calisto with the Bayerische Staatsoper, and Antonio in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Salzburg Festival.
