Adrian Dwyer
Born in Melbourne, Australia, Adrian Dwyer is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio, London. He made his European debut at the Opera Comique as Benedict in ‘Beatrice et Benedict’, and has since returned to Paris for concert performances as Francesco in ‘Benvenuto Cellini’ with Orchestre de Paris under Christoph Eschenbach.
He made his US debut as Rodolfo in Baz Luhrmann’s award-winning production of ‘La Boheme’ in Los Angeles, winning an LA Stage Alliance Ovation award for Outstanding Performance. He has also sung the role for Cape Town Opera and in Francesca Zambello's production at the Royal Albert Hall. Other engagements include Count Almaviva ('Barber of Seville') and Macduff (‘Macbeth’) for Scottish Opera, Arturo (‘Lucia di Lammermoor’) with English National Opera, and Ismaele ('Nabucco') for the State Opera of South Australia. He has also sung at many of the major UK festivals, with credits including Vakula ('Cherevichiki') for Garsington Opera, Leicester ('Maria Stuarda') and Tamino ('Magic Flute') for Grange Park Opera, and Almaviva in Paisiello’s ‘Il Barbiere di Siviglia’ at the Buxton Opera Festival.
On the concert platform he has sung Vaughan Williams ‘Serenade to Music’ with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra at the Edinburgh Festival, Rossini ‘Stabat Mater’ with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Verdi ‘Requiem’ and Orff ‘Carmina Burana’ in the Royal Albert Hall, and Handel ‘Messiah’ under David Willcocks.
Upcoming engagements include Count Almaviva (‘Barber of Seville’) for Opera Queensland, Sam Kaplan in ‘Street Scene’ at the Buxton Opera Festival, the Aldeburgh Proms, and the Young Vic, as well as concert performances as Gardiner ‘Trouble in Tahiti’ with the Munchen Rundfunkorchester, and Steuermann in Wagner's ‘The Flying Dutchman’ with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
