Alan Held

In addition to his regular appearances at the Metropolitan Opera, Alan Held's recent engagements have included Balstrode in 'Peter Grimes', the title role in 'Wozzeck' title role, Wotan in Wagner's 'Ring', and Orestes in 'Elektra' in San Francisco. He has appeared in 'Tristan und Isolde' in Chicago and Amsterdam under Simon Rattle, had his debut at the Vienna State Opera as Wotan, and performed 'Les Contes d'Hoffmann' in Hamburg, Paris, Vienna and Berlin. He sang Leporello in the new production of 'Don Giovanni' for the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, Pizarro for the Netherlands Opera and the new production at the Salzburg Easter Festival under Sir Simon Rattle, Collatinus in 'The Rape of Lucretia', Orestes for the Bavarian State Opera and Wotan in Washington, Pizarro with the Berlin Philharmonic and Rattle in Japan, and the title role in a new production of Hindemith’s 'Cardillac' for the Paris Opera.

Alan Held’s opera engagements include Les Contes d'Hoffmann in Hamburg, Pizarro for the Paris Opera, the title role in Der Fliegende Holländer for Washington Opera, Wotan (Die Walküre) at the Liceu, Barcelona, Jokanaan at both the Bavarian State Opera and Geneva Opera and Rusalka for the Cleveland Orchestra and at the Salzburg Festival.
