Boris Kudlicka

We are delighted to accounce the general management of set designer Boris Kudlicka.

Boris studied stage and costume design at the Academy of Music Arts in Bratislava and at the Academy of Arts in Groningen, in the Netherlands.

His designs include Mariusz Trelinski’s productions of ‘Madame Butterfly’ (Warsaw-Washington-St.Petersburg), King Roger (Warsaw-Wroclaw-St.Petersburg-Edinburgh), Otello (Warsaw-Hong Kong), Onegin (Warsaw), Don Giovanni (Warsaw-Los Angeles), Pique Dame (Berlin-Warsaw), Andrea Chenier (Washington-Poznan-Warsaw) and La Bohème (Washington-Warsaw) to great critical acclaim and Dale Duesing’s Cherubini`s ‘Medea’ (Dutch Nationale Reisopera), Rossini’s ‘Viaggio a Reims’, Britten`s ‘Rape of Lucretia’ and Keith Warner’s ‘Death in Venice’ (Frankfurt Opera).

He also designed the productions of Andrzej Żuławski (The Haunted Mannor), Tomasz Konina (Tankredi) in Warsaw, Josefa Prudka at National Opera in Prague (Sprzedana narzeczona), the set to ballet Spartakus and costumes to Romeo and Juliet – both choreographed by Emil Wesołowski (Teatr Wielki – National Opera in Warsaw). He has also worked with ballet companies in Prague and Bratislava.

His theatre designs include ‘Macbeth’ directed by Mariusz Trelinski, the set to ‘Cherry Orchard’ directed by Maciej Prus and Richard II directed by Andrzej Seweryn. He also designed Vampires’ Dance directed by Roman Polanski at the Roma Theater, Warsaw.

With Andrzej Kreutz-Majewski he designed the Polish Pavillion at the EXPO 2000 in Hannover. His work in film and television include Suzanne (directed by Dusan Rapos), Egoists (directed by Mariusz Treliński), and Between Strangers with Sophia Loren (directed by Edoardo Ponti).

In March 2006, he received “GLORIA ARTIS” for the set design for Richard II at the first Polish Competition organized by Theater Institute and Ministry of Culture. Last year he was awarded the gold medal at the Prague`s Quadrienale PQ`07 international stage design exhibition.
