Cape Town Opera

Cape Town Opera (CTO) has emerged in recent years as one of the world's most exciting and innovative opera companies, and has cemented its reputation with guest performances in some of the leading houses of Europe.

The majority of CTO's singers have emerged from the townships of South Africa, and come through the company's hugely-successful vocal training programme. This has created a thrilling and unique ensemble blend, which delighted audiences in 'Showboat' at Nuremburg Opera and Den Norske Opera in Oslo in 2005. This year sees the company perform at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin and on tour in Sweden with a new production of Porgy and Bess.
