Christoph Pregardien

Born in Limburg, Germany, Christoph Prégardien is widely regarded as among the foremost lyric tenors of his generation. He frequently collaborates with Maestros Gardiner, Harnoncourt, Herreweghe, Jacobs, Koopman, Kuijken, Leonhardt and Rilling. His repertoire includes the great oratorios and passions of the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods in addition to music from the 17th century (Monteverdi, Schütz and Purcell) and 20th century (Britten, Stravinsky, Killmayer and Rihm). He is especially esteemed as a recitalist and is regularly welcomed at the major European recital venues of Paris, London, Brussels, Berlin, Cologne, Amsterdam, Salzburg, Zürich, Vienna, Barcelona and Geneva, as well as throughout Italy, Japan, Israel and North America. With a vast discography, his recordings of the German Romantic Lied earn tremendous critical acclaim. In opera his repertoire at the major European opera houses include Tamino ('Die Zauberflöte'), Almaviva ('Il Barbiere di Siviglia'), Fenton ('Falstaff'), Monteverdi's 'Ulisse' and Don Ottavio ('Don Giovanni') which he has also performed and recorded under John Eliot Gardiner.
