Irina Mataeva

Since 1998, Irina Mataeva has been a soloist of the Young Academy of the Marinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg where she has been coached by Elena Obratzova, Renata Scotto and Larissa Gergieva. Already this young singer is making an impact on the international stage whith her stunning performances of Pique Dame at the Washington Opera and Carmen at the Los Angeles Opera with Placido Domingo.

Recent engagements have included Chloe in Pique Dame, Micaela in Carmen at the Washington Opera, Chloe in Pique Dame at the Los Angeles Opera, a recital with the Mariinsky Academy at the Wigmore Hall in London, a recital with Larissa Gergieva at St John’s Smith Square as a part of the ‘Rosenblatt series’, Tatiana in Eugene Onegin at the Chatelet in Paris and at the Opera De Marseille and Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the Washington Opera, Natasha in War & Peace at the Metropolitan Opera and Sampiero Corso at the Opera de Marseille.

The sponsors' circle (CIAM) of the Theatre du Chatelet awarded her the prize of most popular artist of the year for her portrayal of Tatiana in January 2003.

Future engagements include Tatiana in Onegin in Japan, Washington DC and Munich.
