Mattijs van de Woerd

Askonas Holt is delighted to be representing Dutch born baritone Mattijs van de Woerd. Born in Rotterdam in 1973, Mattijs began his musical studies as a member of the Rotterdam Boys’ Choir, continuing his training at the Rotterdam, Amsterdam and The Hague Conservatories. Mattijs has worked with highly regarded conductors such as Frans Brüggen, Tan Dun, Paul McCreesh and Steven Sloane and his stage experience has allowed him to work with directors Pierre Audi, Jeroen Lopes Cardozo, Alexander Olivier and Gerardjan Rjinders, amongst others. He has performed with the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Holland Symfonia, NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo and Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim.

His engagements include performing Tan Dun’s Tea with De Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam, Shanghai and Tokyo, touring the Netherlands singing Poulenc’s La Bal Masque with the Ives Ensemble, Duruflé’s Requiem and Messe “Cum Jubilo” with The Gents, and Gassmann’s L’opera seria with De Nationale Reisopera. Mattijs has also sung Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan Tutte at the Sage Gateshead, and Serviteur in Van Vlijmen’s Thyeste in the Netherlands and Brussels.
