Mikhail Petrenko

Mikhail Petrenko is emerging at the forefront of the new generation of great singers from the Mariinsky Theatre and is already creating quite a stir in Europe and America. The quality of his voice is unmistakable, with its firm resonance and beauty. Surely he will be at the centre of the long tradition of fine Russian basses.

He recently appeared at the BBC Proms as the 'Storm Knight' in 'Kashei the Immortal' with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Jurosky.

Among his future plans he will sing Hagen in 'Gotterdammerung' with Sir Simon Rattle at the Salzburg and Aix en Provence Festival, Hunding in 'Die Walkure' at the Hamburgische Staatsoper, 'Il Trovatore' at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, 'The Bells' with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra

In a change to his usual performances he will also be singing in a film version of 'Don Giovanni' next summer, filming in various locations around Europe.

Other appearances will also include a Verdi Requiem with the Philadelphia SO conducted by Christoph Eschenbach and Gremin in 'Eugene Onegin' at the Netherlands Opera with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Mariss Jansons.
