Myung-Whun Chung

Myung-Whun Chung is Principal Conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and in May 2000 took responsibility for the musical direction of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. He has appeared as guest conductor with virtually every great orchestra, including the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic orchestras, the London, Boston and Chicago Symphony orchestras, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra. In addition to being awarded numerous music prizes, Myung-Whun Chung has also been honoured with Korea's most distinguished cultural award "Kumkwan" and was named "Man of the Year" by UNESCO.

He has served as Ambassador for the Drug Control Program at the United Nations and is Korea's Honorary Cultural Ambassador.
