Richard Van Allan
Richard Van Allan CBE began at Glyndebourne, where he was a frequent guest artist, before becoming a member of the ROH where his roles included, Don Alfonso, Figaro and Leporello, Zaccaria, Don Pizarro and Colline. Later, as a member of the ENO he added Boris Godounov, Baron Ochs, Claggart, Don Quichotte, the Count in Figaro and Mustafa to his repertoire. He has appeared with all the major UK companies and many abroad, including the Metropolitan Opera, New York and L'Opera in Paris, and his many recordings include one Grammy Award and two Nominations. With a career spanning nearly forty years, during fifteen years of which he was also Director of the National Opera Studio, he is now happy to appear in the less demanding supporting roles and has recently returned from the Saito Kinen Festival, Japan and from Florence after singing Hobson in Peter Grimes with Osawa. He is currently singing the second Priest in Die Zauberflote at Covent Garden.
