He was born in France of Sicilian parents. he made his English debut with the Glyndebourne Touring Opera in the role of Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata, a role he would soon go on to sing in Monte Carlo, Japan and throughout Europe, up until his spectacular debut at La Scala in Milan. In 1993, he signed an exclusive contract with EMI for which, over a ten-year period, he recorded an impressive opera catalogue, made up of complete works, recitals solos, duos, sacred music and cross-over, and bringing him numerous musical awards: Gramophone Award, Grammy Award, Best Recording, Record of the Year, Gold Record …

He appears round the world in recital and in the opera house, his repertoire including:

La Bohème, Tosca and La Rondine (Puccini), L’Elisir d’amore, Lucia di Lammermoor and Roberto Devereux (Donizetti), Il Trovatore, Don Carlos, La Traviata, Simone Boccanegra and Macbeth (Verdi), Roméo et Juliette and Faust (Gounod), Werther and Manon (Massenet), L’amico Fritz (Mascagni), Carmen (Bizet), I Pagliacci (Leoncavallo), Cyrano de Bergerac (Alfano) and many others…
