Sergei Leiferkus

Sergei Leiferkus's command of both voice and stagecraft ensures that he is known throughout the world for his vivid and powerful performances in both Russian and Italian repertoire. His ability to convey both nobility and evil makes him most noted for roles such as Scarpia in 'Tosca', Iago in 'Otello', Rangoni in 'Boris Godunov' and Telramund in 'Lohengrin' and Alberich in the Ring Cycle. Further repertoire includes the title roles in Simon Boccanegra and Mazeppa.

Recitals and concerts form an important part of Leiferkus's work: his distinctive voice and ability to communicate to an audience make for outstanding performances. Among a wide repertoire in this field, he is particularly known for his exceptional interpretation of Musorgsky's Songs and Dances of Death.
