Vilde Frang
“It has only been a question of time before the next magic Miss Violin would announce herself, and here she is” said the Stuttgarter Zeitung of Vilde Frang in April 2008. Born in Norway in 1986 she studied at the Barratt-Due Music Institute in Oslo before taking private lessons with Kolja Blacher at the Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg and Ana Chumachenco at the Kronberg Academy. She has performed extensively in Scandinavia and is rapidly capturing the world’s attention. She is consistently re-engaged by orchestras such as the London Philharmonic, Oslo Philharmonic and Copenhagen Philharmonic and regularly appears at the major European Festivals. She has also been awarded several major prizes including Danish Léonie Sonning Music Fund, Grand Prize of the Vera and Oscar Ritter Foundation Hamburg and in 2007 was named a Fellowship member of the Borletti-Buitoni Trust. Since 2003 she is a scholarship holder in the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation. She was engaged by Mariss Jansons when she was 12 to debut with the Oslo Philharmonic and has played chamber music with Martha Argerich, Renaud and Gautier Capucon to name a few.
Her future engagements: Tour of the US with Anne-Sophie Mutter and Camerata Salzburg, Bergen Philharmonic with Maxim Vengerov conducting, Oslo Philharmonic and a tour of Germany with the BBC Philharmonic and Noseda.
