William Burden

William Burden has established himself in a wide-ranging repertoire in Europe and North America. In North America he has appeared with the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, Seattle Opera, Opera Company of Phildalphia, Florida Grand Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Glimmerglass Opera and New York City Opera. He has sung with the Opera de Paris, Opera de Bordeaux, the Theatre du Chatelet, Paris, Bavarian State Opera, Munich, the Teatro Real, Madrid, Teatro alla Scala, Milan and at the Saito Kinen Festival, Japan and the Glyndebourne Festival. His broad repertoire includes the title roles of Faust, Pelleas et Melisande, Romeo et Juiette, the Rake’s Progress, Beatrice et Benedict, Candide and Acis and Galatea. He has sung Nerone (L’Incoronazione di Poppea), Aschenbach (Death in Venice), Male Chorus (The Rape of Lucretia), Tamino, Fenton, Nemorino and Peter Quint. His recent engagements include Tom Rakewell in San Francisco, Pelleas for the Deutsche Staatsoper, Berlin (with Sir Simon Rattle) and Billy Budd in Santa Fe. He will sing Alwa (Lulu) in Chicago, Julietta in concert with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, The Pearl Fishers in Seattle and L’italiana in Algeri in Dallas.
