Nadezhda Karyazina wins second prize at Savonlinna competition
Young Russian mezzo Nadezhda Karyazina has won the second prize at the II International Singing Competition in Savonlinna, Finland, walking away with the €10,000 prize.
Adjudicated by a jury of prominent international opera company directors, the competition has one category and is open to singers of all nationalities born in or after 1982. The aim is to discover promising new opera singers and the repertoire accordingly consists solely of operatic arias.
Already on a high following her joint 3rd prize win at this years Operalia competition, next season will see Nadezhda embark on a festcontract at the Salzburger Landestheater.
