The 2016 Wratislavia Cantans Festival begins this weekend and we are delighted that it will feature several Askonas Holt artists.
The festival’s Artistic Director Giovanni Antonini conducts two programmes; Beethoven Symphony No. 9 on 4 September with the Kammerorchester Basel and NFM Choir, and a programme entitled “Fathers and Sons” on 16 September with his own ensemble, Il Giardino Armonico, and soloists including soprano Lydia Teuscher. He will also make a guest appearance on the recorder on 11 September, with the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra and their Artistic Director, Jarosław Thiel.
On 3 September – in the opening concert of the festival – Mikhail Petrenko will join NFM Wrocław Philharmonic, the Male Chorus of Białystok Opera and Philharmonic and conductor Andrey Boreyko for Shostakovich’s 13th (“Babi Yar”) Symphony.
Last but not least, regular duo partners Kristian Bezuidenhout and Alina Ibragimova present a recital of sonatas for fortepiano and violin by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on 8 September.
The festival runs from 3 – 18 September, and is organised by the National Forum of Music in Poland. Find out more on the Wratislavia Cantans Festival website.
