60th anniversary of Royal Northern Sinfonia

This weekend, the Sage Gateshead hosts the “Big RNS Birthday Gala”, celebrating the 60th anniversary of Royal Northern Sinfonia and led by its Music Director Lars Vogt. This special event will feature an eclectic mix of orchestral, choral and chamber music by composers including Mozart, Faure, Poulenc, Prokofiev and a new commission by Errollyn Wallen. The concert will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on 25 September at 19:00.

A very busy Autumn will see Lars performing Brahms Songs and Concerti with the Bergen Philharmonic as part of their Brahms Festival under Music Director Edward Gardner; Beethoven and Schumann concerti with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic at the Concertgebouw under Chief Conductor Markus Stenz; and Lars’ conducting debuts with the Singapore and New Zealand Symphony Orchestras, Warsaw Philharmonic and Orchestre de Chambre de Paris.
