Askonas artists shine.
Congratulations to Edward Gardner and Robert Murray who both stepped in at the last minute to save two performances of Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, also featuring Sarah Connolly and James Rutherford.
Performances of the work took place at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall and London’s Barbican Centre. The critics hailed Edward Gardner’s magnificent leadership as “…a superbly calibrated performance.”. Robert Murray’s portrayal was described by The Evening Standard “…spine-tingling…” and Sarah Connolly cemented her position as one of the “…greatest exponents of the role…” whilst James Rutherford “completed a top-flight team of soloists”.
Bravi to all involved!
