A trio of debuts for Jonathan Cohen

Askonas Holt is delighted to announce that Jonathan Cohen has kindly agreed to step in to conduct the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in performances of Bach’s B minor Mass on the 12 and 13 December 2013 in his debut engagement with the orchestra. Jonny replaces Richard Egarr, who is sadly unwell. This engagement marks the first of three debuts for Jonny in the space of a mere four weeks, evidence that his reputation as an insightful and refreshing early music specialist, is growing internationally. Having conducted the B minor Mass with his own orchestra Arcangelo at the Flanders and Tetbury Festivals in September and October, this will be Jonny’s third performance this season of a piece considered by many the summit of Bach’s choral work.
Jonny’s busy career as a conductor will also take him to the United States before the end of the year for another debut, when he conducts the St Paul Chamber Orchestra in performances of the Messiah on the 19, 20 & 21 December 2013. In the New Year, Jonny will be returning to Scotland when he directs the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in their annual performance of the Messiah on 2 January 2014, in his first performance with the orchestra.
We would like to wish Jonny all the best for this trio of debuts.
