For many of us – especially those working in an office environment, where we rely less on our physical health – it’s difficult to imagine dealing with a career-altering injury. What would you do if factors outside of your control changed the course of your career? How would you deal with such an experience, both practically and mentally?
Assistant Artist Manager Fiona Russell has been working at Askonas Holt for 10 years this week, following a persistent injury and subsequent diagnosis which called time on her career as a professional cornetto player. In an exceptionally honest and compelling piece for the website Musician’s Well (a collection of accounts from musicians who have overcome – or in some instances have not – illness and injury), Fiona shares her route to recovery, and addresses what recovery really means.
