Ailyn Pérez makes her Metropolitan Opera debut as Micaela in the stunning Richard Eyre production of Carmen which returns this week with its original star, Elina Garanca, singing the title role. Louis Langrée conducts Bizet’s great opera which also features Roberto Alagna and Jonas Kaufmann who take turns playing Carmen’s desperate lover, Don José.
Ailyn Pérez has previously sung the role of Micaela with Opera Philadelphia. This season she also sings Adina (L’elisir d’amore) at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Mimi (La bohème) at Teatro alla Scala, Violetta (La traviata) and Norina (Don Pasquale) in her debut at the Liceu Barcelona and Violetta at Opernhaus Zurich.
