Following a hugely successful first year as Music Director of Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra, Alexander Shelley
opens their 2016/17 season this week with two performances
of Richard Strauss’s ‘Also sprach Zarathustra’ and the Brahms Violin Concerto with esteemed soloist Joshua Bell.
Alongside his commitments in Ottawa this season Alexander will continue his burgeoning relationship with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra both in London and on tour. They recently returned from a triumphant series of concerts in Korea. This season also marks his final year as Chief Conductor of Nuremburg Symphony which culminates in the largest open air festival concert in Europe next August.
When not otherwise engaged in Ottawa, London or Nuernberg, Alexander’s guest engagements in 2016/17 include re-invitations to DSO Berlin, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Hong Kong Philharmonic.
