Alexandre Bloch conducts inaugural concerts as Music Director of Orchestre National de Lille

This week, Alexandre Bloch conducts his inaugural concerts as Music Director of Orchestre National de Lille.
The concerts involve a musical ‘handing over’ – with current Music Director Jean-Claude Casadesus beginning the concert conducting Berlioz’s overture to ‘Benvenuto Cellini’. Alexandre then takes to the stage to conduct Spanish composer Hèctor Parra’s ‘InFall’, Khachaturian’s violin concerto with Nemanja Radulovic and Stravinsky’s ‘The Firebird’.
Speaking of his appointment as Music Director earlier this year Alexandre commented: “I am so thrilled and honoured to become the new Music Director of the Orchestre National de Lille, starting next September. It is a privilege for me to have the chance to work closely with the musicians of this orchestra, and I am very much looking forward to all the musical, cultural and social projects we will accomplish together in Lille and its region.”
Forthcoming projects with the orchestra include a concert performance of Bizet’s ‘Les Pêcheurs de Perles’ (with Julie Fuchs, May 2017) and Fauré’s ‘Requiem’ (July 2017). The 2016/17 season also includes debuts with Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National d’Ile-de-France, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre Métropolitain (Montréal) and Brussels Philharmonic. He will also conduct Donizetti’s ‘L’Elisir d’Amore’ at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Düsseldorf) and returns to many orchestras, including Orchestre National de France, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic, Royal Northern Sinfonia, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
Performances take place on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 September at the Nouveau Siecle in Lille. Find out more on the orchestra’s website
