Alexandre Bloch debuts with Opéra de Lyon conducting Benjamin’s Lessons in Love and Violence

Alexandre Bloch will conduct his stage debut for Opéra de Lyon in George Benjamin’s Lessons in Love and Violence alongside an internationally renowned cast, including Stéphane Degout . A story of passion, politics and power, this work is the latest collaboration between Benjamin and playwright Martin Crimp, following their hugely successful collaboration in Written on Skin, which has become one of the most performed new operas of the 21st century.

Performances will take place from 14 May to 26 May. For more information, check the Opéra de Lyon website.

The 2018/19 season has seen Alexandre make debuts with Tiroler Landstheater Orchester Innsbruck and Gurzenich-Orchester Köln. With Orchestre National de Lille he is currently conducting his way through a Mahler cycle, alongside performances including Stravinsky’s Petrushka and recording work. He will also soon return to Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, where he is Principal Guest Conductor.
