Alexandre Bloch makes his debut tonight with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. Joined by pianist Ingrid Fliter, the concert features a sparkling programme including Haydn’s Piano Concerto in D Major and Schubert’s majestic Symphony No. 9, The Great.
This concert marks the beginning of a fantastic week for the French conductor. After performing again in Vancouver tomorrow, he travels to Norway to make his debut with Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. In Oslo (15 October) he conducts a special programme curated by composer Lars Petter Hagen, combining two of Hagen’s recent compositions and other carefully selected works. A particular highlight of the programme is Hagen’s To Zeitblom – a concerto for Hardanger fiddle and orchestra.
Later this year Alexandre Bloch is to make further debuts with Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Nash Ensemble at the Wigmore Hall. He returns to Concertgebouw Orkest, Scottish Chamber, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBCNOW, Poznan Philharmonic, NWD Philharmonie and Australian Youth Orchestra. Future plans include his debut with Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and returns to the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Orchestre National de Lille.
