Alina Ibragimova and Cédric Tiberghien return to Wigmore Hall this weekend for the fifth and final concert in their Mozart sonata cycle. This has been an absorbing project for the duo over two seasons that has seen them perform the complete cycle at Tokyo’s Oji Hall and numerous concerts throughout Europe, as well as each programme being presented in London. In addition, the whole project has been recorded for Hyperion, with volume 1 scheduled for release in May 2016. This final programme includes very early works by an eight-year-old Mozart through to his final piece in this genre, offering audiences the full spectrum of these wonderful and varied sonatas.
Praise for a previous concert in the series: “Tiberghien had no hesitation in taking the lead… Somehow reinventing the Steinway concert grand as an authentically Mozartian instrument, he dazzled us with fingerwork flawlessly precise, ultra-energised and stylishly articulate. Allied to Ibragimova’s imaginative, fine-spun phrases, it ensured that even the youngster’s excursions were uncommonly captivating.” The Sunday Times, May 2015
The concert takes place at 19.30 on Saturday 30 January 2016. Find out more on the Wigmore Hall website
