Alina Ibragimova’s busy summer comes to a close with a European tour with the Bergen Philharmonic. Alongside concerts in Bergen, Amsterdam and Dublin, their London concert as part of the BBC Proms also marks Alina’s fourth and final Proms 2015 appearance. Her previous performances included two extraordinary solo Bach recitals that have proved to be one of the highlights of the season both for audiences and critics alike. Hailed as an outstanding achievement in the Guardian, the Observer reported “Alone on stage for two late-night Proms (19 & 21), Alina Ibragimova played the complete Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin by Bach. “Played” is a feeble word to convey the life-changing richness of the experience”.
Earlier in August, Alina took part in another of the great summer festivals; the Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival. Here she gave a recital with Steven Osbourne before joining the Academy of Ancient Music and conductor Edward Gardner for a performance of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. Edward had already given two prior concerts in New York with the Festival Orchestra and will join the BBC Symphony Orchestra for a Proms performance on 25 August. The Bergen Philharmonic Prom is on 27August. Edward Gardner takes up his new appointment as their Chief Conductor in October, leading their 250th anniversary gala concert.
