Alina Ibragimova returns to the London Symphony Orchestra this week to perform Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3, and is delighted to be working with Bernard Haitink for the first time. They will give concerts at the Barbican Centre in London and the Philharmonie de Paris, featuring Mahler’s mighty Symphony No. 1 in the second half.
The Barbican Centre concert is part of the orchestra’s Violin Festival, a series of concerts showcasing some of today’s greatest violinists performing 12 works from across the spectrum of the violin concerto repertoire. Alongside this, specialist auctioneers Tarisio are showing a Digital Exhibition, featuring articles, images and recordings of the violins being played during the Festival.
Bernard Haitink’s second week with the LSO culminates in an all-Beethoven programme ending with his Symphony No. 9 featuring another Askonas Holt artist, Hanno Müller-Brachmann.
