Fresh from highly successful concerts with the Hallé Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra, this week sees cellist Alisa Weilerstein embark on a tour of the UK and Ireland with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Alisa will give four concerts performing Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in Manchester (12 February), Birmingham (14 February), Nottingham (15 February), and Dublin (17 February), as well as two performances of Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No.1 (Bristol 11 February, Basingstroke 16 February). Alisa will be joined on stage by conductor Thomas Netopil.
Alisa then goes on to give three regional concerts with the Czech Philharmonic, again under the baton of Netopil, performing Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No.1 at the Rudolfinum in Prague from 21 – 23 February.
Future highlights this season include concerto appearances, performing Shostakovich with the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester and James Conlon, Lutoslawski’s Cello Concerto with the Indianapolis Symphony under the baton of Krzysztof Urbanski, as well as concerts with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic and the Hamburger Symphoniker.
