Andrea Mastroni and Ekaterina Semenchuk debut with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra



This Saturday both Andrea Mastroni (Bass) and Ekaterina Semenchuk (Mezzo-Soprano) make their debuts with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Kirill Petrenko in Igor Stravsinsky’s Oedipus rex.

Premiered in Paris in 1927, Stravinsky’s opera/oratorio Oedipus rex is considered to be one of the finest works of his career and was written towards the beginning of his neoclassical period.

Both artists have previously performed the work, Andrea with the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and Chorus with Daniele Gatti and Ekaterina previously recorded the work the Mariinsky Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev. This weekend, Andrea takes to the stage as Tiresias and Ekaterina as Jocasta.

The performance will be live streamed on the Berlin Philharmonic Digital Concert Hall website at 18:00 on Saturday 13th February.
