This weekend, Andrei Ioniță and Saleem Ashkar make their Orchestre National de Belgique debut, under Constantinos Carydos, with performances of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto alongside violinst Stephen Waarts.
For Andrei, who won the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2015, this forms part of a season which includes concerts with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, St Petersburg Phil and BBC Philharmonic — the latter at Bridgewater Hall and on tour.
Saleem’s season includes performances with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. His recent debut recital at the Elbphilharmonie saw him praised as a “great poet of the keyboard”. (Hamburg Abendblatt)
This concert will be broadcast live on Belgian Radio.
