This weekend, Andrey Zhilikhovsky makes his US debut as Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Washington National Opera. He is joined by a stellar cast that includes Isabel Leonard as Rosina and Taylor Stayton as Count Almaviva. The revival of Peter Kazaras’ production will be conducted by Emily Senturia.
Andrey told WNO: “Figaro is one of my favorite roles, and I am very excited to bring it to Washington and make my American debut with it!”
Next season, he will return to Europe to make further his debuts at both Opera di Roma in Nozze di Figaro and Staatsoper Berlin. In Berlin, he will star as Don Ferdinand in Prokofiev’s Betrothal in a Monastery, alongside Aida Garifullina in the role of Luisa, and under the direction of Dmitri Tcherniakov. Andrey will also return to Glyndebourne following his debut there in 2017.
Performances of Il barbiere di Siviglia take place on 28 April, and 2, 4, 7, 11, 13, 17 and 19 May. Find out more on the Washington National Opera website.
