Andrey Zhilikhovsky debuts at Bayerische Staatsoper

Baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky makes his Bayerische Staatsoper debut in Donizetti’s Elisir d’Amore this autumn, with the opening performance on 29 September.

Andrey plays Belcore alongside Pretty Yende as Adina, Galeano Salas as Nemorino, Milan Siljanov as Dulcamara, and Sarah Gilford as Giannetta. Conducted by Franceso Angelico, the production is directed by David Bösch.

Appearing at the Metropolitan Opera last year, Andrey was praised by The New York Times for bringing “burly sound and impish charm to Schaunard” and by Parterre for offering “a campy, flamboyant Schaunard, matched with a clear, peppy sound.” Highlights of last season also include performances at the Glyndebourne Opera Festival and Staatsoper Berlin.
