Ann Murray soaring on wings of song!

Farewell solo recital for Ann Murray at the Wigmore Hall

On Sunday evening the Wigmore Hall celebrated Ann Murray’s farewell solo recital. Ann Murray’s intimate association with the Hall goes back over thirty years.  Her debut was in 1977 as a founder member of the Songmakers Almanac. She made her solo debut in 1983 and has ever since played an integral role in the Hall’s programming of song.

Her farewell programme, to a sold out house, was rapturously received. Her final encores of Irish folksongs were overwhelmingly moving and were rewarded with a deserved standing ovation. Ann Murray was accompanied fantastically by Malcolm Martineau.
