Askonas Holt artists celebrate the coming of a new year

As we bid adieu to 2018 and warmly welcome 2019, Askonas Holt artists will be performing in New Year concerts and opera first nights across the world.

Among the many highlights of the festive season are:

  • Ainars Rubikis conducts his first New Year’s concert as Music Director of Komische Oper Berlin (1 Jan)
  • Alexandre Bloch and Michele Angelini rediscover Oyayaye or the Queen of the Isles in the Gürzenich Orchesters celebration of Offenbach’s 200th birthday in their official New Year’s concert (6 Jan)
  • Andrea Mastroni will return to Hamburgische Staatsoper to perform the role of Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte under Maestro Kent Nagano in the closing performances (1 & 4 Jan)
  • Domingo Hindoyan conducts the Royal Swedish Orchestra in a concert which also celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Stockholm University College of Opera (31 Dec)
  • Dovlet Nurgeldiyev joins NDR Elbphilarmonie Orchestra for Die Fledermaus, marking the first performance of Strauss’ opera at the venue (30 Dec)
  • Duncan Ward joins the Scottish Chamber Orchestra for their Invitation to the Dance New Year’s Day Concert (1 Jan)
  • Christian Vasquez leads Het Gelders Orkest in three new year’s concerts (4, 5 & 6 Jan)
  • Evan Rogister leads Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse in four concerts (30, 31 Dec & 1, 3 Jan)
  • Fatma Said performs Haydn The Creation with Düsseldorfer Symphoniker and Ádám Fischer (1 Jan)
  • Frédéric Antoun sings Jupiter in Semele at Opernhaus Zurich, conducted by William Christie (opens 31 Dec)
  • James Gaffigan conducts a Rossini-inspired programme with the Lucerne Symphony (1 Jan)
  • Julie Fuchs takes on the role of Eurydice in Orphée aux Enfers with Opera d’Avignon (28, 30 & 31 Dec)
  • Ian Bostridge will return to Schloss Elmau for a recital with violinist Roberto González-Monjas and pianist Julius Drake (31 Dec)
  • Imogen Cooper performs Mozart Piano Concerto No. 17 with Nicholas Collon and his Aurora Orchestra, in both Bristol and London (30 & 31 Dec)
  • Ildebrando D’Arcangelo will headline the Masovian Musical Theater’s 14th New Year Celebrations in Warsaw (1 Jan)
  • Three AH artists will ring in the New Year with Beethoven Symphony No. 9: Lucy Crowe with Leipzig Gewandhausorchester conducted by Andris Nelsons (29 Dec), Audun Iversen with Hamburger Symphoniker conducted by Eivind Gullberg Jensen (31 Dec), and Gary Griffiths with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Christopher Warren-Green (28 Dec)
  • Sonya Yoncheva will perform with the Orchestre de l’Opéra national de Paris at the Palais Garnier in their 350th Anniversary Inaugural Gala (30 Dec)
  • Rafael Payare leads the Danish National Symphony’s New Year Gala Concert with soloist Alisa Weilerstein (31 Dec)
  • Veronika Eberle will join HR Sinfonieorchester and Johannes Debus for Mozart’s Violin Concerto in G major (1 Jan)
  • Long Yu conducts his Shanghai Symphony Orchestra in a concert which also celebrates the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China (31 Dec)
  • Ziyu He will be in performing Saint-Saens Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso in the Great Hall of the People, Beijing with the Beijing Symphony Orchestra (31 Dec)
