Askonas Holt at the Oxford Lieder Festival

A plethora of Askonas Holt artists appear at this year’s Oxford Lieder Festival.

Sarah Connolly
and Graham Johnson open the Festival on 16 October, with a programme of Schubert, Brahms and Wolf in the Sheldonian Theatre and, earlier in the day, Benjamin Appl takes part in a symposium on words and music.

Gyula Rab
sings Fauré on 17 October as does John Mark Ainsley on 18 October.  John Mark also appears on 21 October in a recital featuring settings of Shakespeare accompanied by James Baillieu.

On 22 October Gary Matthewman appears in a programme of Fauré and Schubert and Gary Griffiths sings in a Russian programme.

Toby Spence
sings a new English translation of Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin on 25 October.

Imogen Cooper
curates a residency this year giving recitals with Wolfgang Holzmair on both 23 and 26 October, masterclasses on 27 and 30 October, and a solo Chopin recital on 28 October.

Lucy Crowe gives a recital on 27 October featuring Fauré and Schubert and Robert Murray and Mark Stone are accompanied by Graham Johnson on 29 October in a performance of A Shropshire Lad.

Iain Burnside appears on 27 October in a programme illuminating the relationship between Brahms and Clara Schumann and, on 28 October, Ann Murray gives a masterclass.

Finally, Matthew Rose and Joseph Middleton join forces for a recital on 30 October.
