Lithuanian soprano Asmik Grigorian makes her debut in the Far East with the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan this week singing the letter scene from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. The performance is conducted by Shao-Chia Lü and features works by Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky.
Asmik made her US debut earlier this year with the New World Symphony Orchestra under Michael Tilson Thomas, performing extracts from Wozzeck. Other recent engagements include roles in Wozzeck at Norske Opera, Eugene Onegin at Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, Manon Lescaut and Madama Butterfly at the Royal Swedish Opera, Stockholm, and a new production of Wozzeck by William Kentridge conducted by Vladimir Yurovsky at the Salzburg Festival, where she has been invited back for Salome.
The concert takes place on 22 December. For more information and tickets, see the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan website.
