Australian debut for Diego Silva

Diego Silva makes his Australian debut on Saturday 26 August 2017, in Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s Mid-Season Gala, Thaïs: Opera in Concert. Diego sings the role of Nicias, joining Erin Wall in the title role and Quinn Kelsey as Athanaël under the baton of Sir Andrew Davis.

Last season, Diego made his Metropolitan Opera debut as Tybalt in Roméo et Juliette.

“Diego Silva made an exceptional debut as Tybalt, flashing a consistent, buttery tenor and working himself up to burning insistence as he made his fateful challenge to Romeo.”

Following Thaïs with the Melbourne Symphony, Diego will sing as Rodolfo in La bohème at Opera de Metz and will return to Vilnius City Opera as Faust, before returning to the Luzerner Theater for productions of La Traviata (Alfredo), Falstaff (Fenton), Die Zauberflöte (Tamino), and a new production of Massenet’s Manon (Des Grieux). Diego will also sing Alfredo with Trondheim Symfoniorkester and Arturo Lucia for Monte-Carlo Opera.

Thaïs will be performed at Hamer Hall, Melbourne, 8pm on Saturday 26 August, also recorded for broadcast on ABC Classic FM Radio on 3 September. Further information can be found on the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra website.
