Congratulations to Alan Oke, Catherine Wyn-Rogers and Robert Murray whose sterling performances in Aldeburgh’s Britten Centenary performances of Peter Grimes were recognised at the 2014 BBC Music Magazine Awards, receiving the Opera Award. This award comes hot on the heels of their success at the 2014 Opera Awards, winning the Anniversary Production (Britten) award.
John Mark Ainsley, Susan Gritton and Christopher Maltman were also recognised for their wonderful recording of Britten’s War Requiem under Paul McCreesh, winning the Choral Award and George Benjamin‘s Written on Skin received the Premiere Award.
The DVD Documentary Award went to Jonathan Kent’s production of Puccini’s Tosca recorded at the Royal Opera House in 2012 and starring Angela Gheorghiu alongside Jonas Kaufmann and Bryn Terfel.
