BSO’s new ‘Artistic Partner’ Thomas Adès
will – amongst other engagements with the orchestra – lead a performance of his work ‘Totentanz’ featuring Christianne Stotijn
and Mark Stone
. And to mark the beginning of his new relationship with the orchestra, Thomas will join forces with Ian Bostridge
for a special performance of Schubert’s ‘Winterreise’ in October 2016.
Conductor Emeritus Bernard Haitink will return to the BSO for four concerts of Beethoven, Haydn and Debussy, Emanuel Ax will perform two concerto programmes in February 2017, and Alisa Weilerstein will give the world premiere of Matthias Pintscher’s Cello Concerto.
Other highlights include a concert performance of ‘Der Rosenkavalier’ featuring Jane Henschel and Stephen Costello, Elgar’s Cello Concerto performed by Yo-Yo Ma, Bach’s ‘Mass in B minor’ with Christine Rice and Hanno Müller-Brachmann, and Mozart’s ‘Requiem’ with Lucy Crowe.
