Britten’s Albert Herring at the Barbican

The best of musical and comic treats

Congratulations to Andrew Staples, Christine Brewer, Catherine Wyn Rogers and Matthew Rose who were part of “a flawless team of singers” (the Arts Desk) in a “musically intoxicating” (The Times) performance of Britten’s Albert Herring with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Steuart Bedford at London’s Barbican Centre on Saturday evening.  In the title role, Andrew Staples triumphed as a “sophisticated singer with faultless comic timing” (Anna Picard, The Times).
