This week sees the start of a busy period of concerts for Carolin Widmann, which kicks off with performances of the Stravinsky Violin Concerto in Glasgow (21 Feb) and Perth (22 Feb) with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Ilan Volkov. The concert in Glasgow will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, presented by Kate Molleson.
Carolin then heads to Lugano to perform the Berg Violin Concerto with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana under Michael Sanderling (28 Feb), before jetting to Utrecht for Julian Anderson’s In lieblicher Bläue with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Markus Stenz (1 Mar). The performance in Utrecht will be broadcast live on NPO4’s AVROTROS Friday concert.
In March, Carolin will embark on an extensive recital tour which includes stops in Berlin, Vienna, Rome, Philadelphia, Cleveland and Washington DC. Performing both solo recitals and duo recitals with pianists Alexander Lonquich, Dénes Várjon and Gloria Chien, Carolin presents programmes that include works by Janáček, Schubert, Jörg Widmann, Wolfgang Rihm, Beethoven, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Hildegard von Bingen, George Benjamin and JS Bach.
