Carolin Widmann and Edward Gardner in German premiere of Anderson violin concerto

We wish Carolin Widmann and Edward Gardner a great success for the German premiere of Julian Anderson’s violin concerto ‘In lieblicher bläue’, featuring the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin at the Philharmonie on Saturday 2 April. Specially written for Carolin, she and Edward work together for the first time, though Gardner is already closely associated with the music of Anderson since the success of ‘The Thebans’ for English National Opera. The rest of the programme includes Holst’s ‘The Planets’.

Edward will also conduct the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin in ‘The Planets’ on Friday night.
